We had the pleasure of building this beautiful home on the Lake of Egypt Peninsula. The design features a spacious elevated deck that wraps around the back, along with a second-story balcony that offers stunning views of the surrounding forest and the lake. This home boasts a full walkout basement, a three car garage, and a huge bonus room above the garage. The home’s navy blue exterior, paired with natural wood accents, blends seamlessly into its natural setting. With large windows lining both levels, the interior has plenty of natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
For this project, our client contracted us to construct the house without finishing the interior. This is because they were planning to complete the inside themselves. Although this doesn’t happen often, we do offer the service of building only the “shell” of a house or simply a shell house. In construction, a “shell house” typically refers to a home that has its exterior completed but lacks interior finishes. This means the exterior walls, roof, windows, and doors are in place and the entire inside is in the dry. From the outside, the home looks completed but the inside is completely unfinished. Most of the time, we frame the interior walls as well and have insulation installed in the ceiling and exterior walls. Sometimes, we also rough-in the electrical and plumbing and HVAC. The shell house allows the owner to come in afterwards and finish the inside of their home on their own. What can we say, some folks have a lot of spare time on their hands. Whatever you need, we will build to whatever level of completion that you desire.
