We have already completed two basement remodels this year.\u00a0 Basement remodels are a common job for us.\u00a0 Depending on the size, these kinds of remodels usually take anywhere between 2 to 5 weeks to do. Basement remodels are fun because you usually take an unused or old, musty area and turn it into a beautiful living space. Many homeowners like to do a kind of modern minimal style of remodel which is good because basements tend to be large spaces and this keeps the costs down.\u00a0 The ideal modern basement will strike a balance between beauty and functionality. The space needs to look good and feel warm but it also needs to be comfortable and livable so that it can be put to a variety of uses.\u00a0 The finished basement isn’t just for shooting pool and playing cards, you have kids and grand kids to entertain too!<\/p>\n

This basement remodeling job was in Vienna, Illinois.\u00a0 A year earlier, we remodeled the upstairs while the customer lived downstairs.\u00a0 This year we remodeled the downstairs while they lived upstairs.<\/p>\n

This job involved a great room area, a bedroom, a bathroom and a laundry room.\u00a0 We first repaired a rotting exterior wall by replacing and reinforcing the framing.\u00a0 This straightened the wall as well and kept one side of the upper house from getting damaged later.<\/p>\n

We were able to remove a column to open up the space.\u00a0 We then removed the drywall off of all the walls and upgraded the electrical and the plumbing.\u00a0 In the bathroom the toilet was relocated so that a larger vanity could be installed. New drywall and fresh paint on the walls was followed by a new vinyl plank flooring.<\/p>\n
